The Power of Pigment: Color as a Messenger
In Septo’s design, even color had to serve a purpose.
We chose anthocyanins — plant-based compounds that give fruits and vegetables like blueberries and red cabbage their distinct hues — as the natural pigment behind our bandage.
These pigments aren’t just sustainable alternatives to synthetic dyes. Their molecular structure allows for subtle color shifts based on pH and environmental conditions, which means they can be used to reflect what’s happening on the surface level of the skin.
By using anthocyanins, Septo bridges biology and material design, turning color into a quiet indicator of change — not just a visual feature.
Our goal has always been to design with intention. In this case, pigment became function.
